FOUR GOAL HERO

Real Sociedad’s Carlos Vela scored 4 times in their encounter against Celta de Vigo some weeks ago, which lifted the spirit and hope for the Spanish team as were scheduled to go head to head with Shaktar Donetsk only 4 days later and Sociedad were in need of some points in order to stay alive for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

‘’I think it will be an important morale boost to achieve the victory that we need for the Champions League’’. I am happy about the hard work made by everyone in the team and how everything has finished. It was a good day for me, I have to enjoy it but tomorrow is another day of hard work and we have to think about our upcoming matches’’. That was the statement from Carlos Vela after the encounter against Celta de Vigo.

Despite the superb performance and form that Carlos Vela displayed it wasn’t enough for him and his team as they got eliminated from the European tournament with a devastating 4-0 loss against Shaktar Donetsk.

Carlos Vela became the 1st Mexican player in scoring 4 goals in the same match of La Liga, a record that was previously held by Hugo Sanchez, Giovani dos Santos and Luis Garcia with each of them scoring 3 goals in 1 match.

“Good results solve everything in football. Win, go to the World Cup, take things as they come and see what we can do there. It’s a complicated matter between Vela and the Federation. I don’t know his reasons. What I do know is that he’s an amazing player who would bring a lot to the Mexican national team.” Giovani dos Santos said in an interview, as he talked about Carlos Vela’s position with Mexico.
