Question Raises on Carlos Vela after quiting Mexican Squad

Real Sociedad striker Carlos Vela has had to answers a lot of questions about international football over the last few months.

This was after he decided to withdraw from the Mexican squad for the World Cup 2014, despite appearing in the World Cup being one of the primary ambitions for any football player. Vela has been in impressive form for the Spanish club this campaign. He recently managed to score the winner against Atletico Madrid, who are the reigning champions, in a league match. This helped the lift Real Sociedad away from the relegation zone.

Despite this, the thought of relegation still remains for the club, who are regarded as one of the prestigious in Spain. As a result, Vela has spoken that he is concentrating only on club football right now. Speculation about a return to the Mexican national team has been doing rounds in the last few weeks with the international break just around the corner. Mexico do not have any competitive matches in this international break, as they will be involved in friendlies against Netherlands and Belarus. Mexico coach Mikel Herrera has spoken with confidence that Vela will return to the national team fold.

The 25-year-old has scored four goals in 15 appearances of all competitions this season. “For the moment I’ve not spoken to anybody and today isn’t the day to talk about the national team because we are in a delicate moment in our team, and right now I’m only thinking about changing the situation and in winning on Saturday (against Cordoba). I’m also thinking about returning to my best level because if you aren’t right, you aren’t useful to anyone, anywhere. I’m not in the form I’d like to be,” said the striker. Last season, he had a much better scoring record with 16 goals in 37 matches.
