appearances on a temporary stint last term

LA Galaxy midfielder Jonathan dos Santos has confirmed that compatriot Carlos Vela has an offer on the table from Barcelona ahead of the winter transfer window. The Mexico international has been a revelation since making the move to Los Angeles FC from Real Sociedad last year and he most recently broke the scoring record for a single season with 34 goals.

As a result, he is firmly a favourite among the club’s faithful but dos Santos has presently doubts regarding the forward’s short-term future. Since then, there has been little to no speculation regarding Vela’s future but dos Santos has revealed that the Blaugrana are keen on signing the former Arsenal man in the New Year, he told: "It's true that he has that offer on the table and I honestly don't know what he is going to do. He is very happy in Los Angeles, with his team. It's a unique opportunity the fact that Barcelona wants him, it's the best team in the world. As a Mexican, I hope that it can happen for him."

The 30-year-old has played as the centre-forward for Los Angeles since their introduction to the MLS last season and he has amassed 53 goals from just 68 appearances for the club. As a result, the interest from the Catalans is not surprising, but Vela would definitely have to settle for a bench role, should he make the move at the turn of the year.Suarez has been the undisputed choice to lead the line for the Blaugrana over the past five years and it remains to be seen whether Vela wants to play second fiddle to the Uruguayan.
