Arsenal won the race to sign a young Carlos Vela ahead of several European teams in 2005. He moved to the Gunners from Guadajalara in his native Mexico in 2005 and went on to spend seven years as an Arsenal player before joining Spanish La Liga club Real Sociedad in 2012 for an undisclosed fee.

Carlos Vela signed for the Gunners in November 2005. The Mexican international put pen to paper on a five-year deal at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal paid £125,000 for Carlos Vela and it rose to £550,000 when he played 50 games for the North London side.

ARTINO DECIDES AGAINST PICKING VELA FOR MEXICO

Tata Martino has revealed that it would go against logical protocols if he decides to pick Los Angeles Football Club striker Carlos Vela for Mexico in the country's upcoming Olympics which will be held in Tokyo. The manager of the country's senior national team made this statement and insisted that he arrived at that conclusion because the striker is yet to feature for the national team since he last did so back in 2018.

Just before Mexico played their friendly match against Costa Rica and Austria over the recently concluded international break, Martino was speaking to journalists and was asked whether the rumors of Vela making a return to the Mexican national te was on the cards, but the manager. Showed that he was perplexed.

LOS ANGELES FC: SEASON 3 REPORT

Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit Los Angeles FC (LAFC) began their third season in the top flight just like the previous two seasons. Early league wins and two goals in the first two games for star player Carlos Vela. Mexican international forward Carlos Vela had won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award at the end of the club's second season in the MLS and was able to continue that form into the third season. Carlos Vela and Los Angeles FC were then involved in a miracle of some sort at the start of their debut season in the CONCACAF Champions League. Los Angeles FC trailed 2-0 against Club Leon of Mexico in the first leg and they were able to turn it around in the second leg at home to progress into the next stage of the competition.
