VELA AMONG BEST-SELLING MLS JERSEYS

Los Angeles FC (LAFC) attacker Carlos Vela is among the best-selling MLS jerseys this season. This is remarkable considering the fact that the Mexican international missed a big part of the MLS Regular Season this year due to injuries.

MLS recently unveiled the best-selling jerseys for this year in conjunction with Jersey Week and Carlos Vela was third on the list for the best-selling adidas jerseys on MLSstore.com.

Carlos Vela was beaten by just the duo of Peruvian striker Raul Ruidiaz and Josef Martinez of Venezuela.

Atlanta United star Martinez is the player with the most jersey sales in the MLS this year, while Seattle Sounders attacker Ruidiaz is in second place.

Mexican national team player Vela won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the MLS two years ago and has struggled for full fitness for a long period of time since then. He had five goals and five assists in 21 games for LAFC in the MLS this season. His absence for a long period of time affected the chances of his team as they failed to qualify for the playoffs via the Western Conference.

Vela is the all-time leading goalscorer for LAFC in the MLS with 57 goals in addition to 24 assists. He's the only LAFC player in the top 25 as regards the best-selling MLS jerseys. His compatriot Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez is fourth on the list and he plays his football at LA Galaxy who also failed to qualify for the playoffs. Both rivals, LAFC and LA Galaxy, failed to make it to the playoffs.

Uruguayan midfielder Nicholas Lodeiro completes the top five on the aforementioned list and he plays for Seattle Sounders. His club teammate Cristian Roldan is in sixth place. Miles Robinson of Atlanta United in seventh spot, while Fredy Montero of Seattle Sounders is in eighth spot. The LA Galaxy duo of Jonathan dos Santos and Sebastian Lletget complete the top ten.
