Wolves boss updates on injury to Raul Jimenez

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno has said that Raul Jimenez has suffered a minor knock on
his foot and he would be assessed ahead of the forthcoming round of fixtures.
The Mexican returned to the fold for the Europa League second round qualifying
game against Crusaders but he found himself substituted during the early stages
of the second period.

Speaking to
reporters, Nuno acknowledged that the injury may have resulted from an extended
period away from the action. He added that the concern will be assessed with
the Premier League season starting in just over a week’s time, he said: “He
didn’t have too much time without (playing). We have to be careful to manage
the right moments for him to get back in shape and get the full fitness we
want. Let’s see (how he is), it was his foot, let’s see how it is.”

Wolves secured a comfortable 2-0 triumph over Crusaders during the first leg at home and they finished the business on the road with a 4-1 thrashing of their opponents. As such, they have progressed to the third qualifying round where they are scheduled to face Pyunik. For the tie, Wolves need to make a 6300-mile trip to Armenia for the first leg and it remains to be seen whether it would have a toll on the players ahead of the Premier League opener against Leicester City on August 11.

Elsewhere, Wolves have done meaningful business in the transfer market and Jesus Vallejo (loan) and Patrick Cutrone are some of the exciting players, who have made the switch to the west Midlands. The club outperformed their expectations last term as they qualified for Europe after nearly four decades and a repeat of the same would surely be demanding with the added pressure of adjusting to Thursday night games, should they progress to the Europa League group stage.
