Paul Robinson hails Mexican star who has impressed at Wolves

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Robinson described Jimenez as a top striker and believes his assist record for a striker is phenomenal, he told: “Jimenez is a top striker, he’s been touted around other clubs, top European clubs as well but it’s all-round game that impresses me. His assist record, I was reading the other day he had nine assists (now 10), for a striker that’s quite a phenomenal record because you usually rely on the others to assist you.”

Wolves made a rather poor beginning to the Premier League campaign and they were stranded in the drop zone with just four points after the opening six matches. As a result, it was suggested that they may struggle with the combination of Europa League and top-flight football this season but that has not been the case with 35 points coming off their next 21 league games.

Nuno’s men are currently placed eighth on the table but they are just two points behind the Champions League spots. Their next game will come against Tottenham Hotspur on the road and they should fancy their chances of surprising the hosts, who have lacked the cutting edge in the attack front with the season-ending injuries for Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Meanwhile, Wolves are cruising to the next phase of the Europa League after picking up a 4-0 triumph over Espanyol during the home leg of the round of 32 stage. Nuno may be tempted to make multiple changes for the away game at the RCDE Stadium, given the struggling Spanish outfit would surely need a miracle to process further in the competition.
